Books are in boxes. Plates are wrapped. U-Haul reserved. It’s official - you are moving to Charleston, SC.

Welcome! Depending on who you ask, Charleston has between 30 to 70 people arriving every day to be a part of this lovely Lowcountry life. Whether you’re moving for the dream job or simply swooned over the Holy City, you are in good company.

As with any transition, finding your feet can feel as intimidating as it is exhilarating. As New York transplants ourselves, my husband, Trinity Wheeler, and I found the best way to meet new people and connect with the Charleston community was through fitness.

New year, new you!

Most people start off the new year making goals to better themselves in some way, whether by getting in shape, eating healthier, spending more time with friends or on self-care, but it isn't always easy to follow through with those resolutions. In order to start your year off right and really stick to the goals you make, you have to find the motivation to get there. At Rhapsody CrossFit, the motivation not only comes from the group around you, who are all working towards the same goal, but they also teach you to find that motivation and drive within yourself. In this video, Rhapsody's Trinity Wheeler speaks on what motivates him.

Both turmeric and honey, nature’s anti-inflammatory team, have powerful and effective natural anti-inflammatory properties. Constant inflammation in the body is a root cause of many serious diseases. Used together, turmeric and honey can help you take a critical step toward reducing your inflammation and improving your life.

Inflammation is part of your body’s response to the invasion of viruses, bacteria, types of fungus and other agents of disease and illness. At these times, some level of inflammation is helpful as your body fights off these intruders. Remember, our bodies are all about balance...moderation.

An autoimmune disease is where your immune system attacks your healthy cells because it cannot tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy cells. It isn't the type of disease where BAM! you instantly know you have it. Learn more about autoimmunity here. Discovering that you do have an autoimmune disease means you need to follow an Autoimmune Protocol Meal Plan to help alleviate the symptoms and the damage to your body.

It may take many years to diagnose an autoimmune disease as it may develop slowly. Over time, it may present as various symptoms and elude discovery. Research shows as many as 90% of women over 40 suffer from thyroid dysfunction. Learn more here. What you will know for sure (even before the diagnosis) is that you are not feeling as good or as healthy as you should: "something is wrong." Improve your run…with rowing!

As spring gets closer so does race season in the Lowcountry.  For many of us, this winter’s cold weather has made it hard to start training.  Especially for those who made running a 5 or 10K a New Year’s resolution.
The Cooper River Bridge Run, Charleston’s largest race, is just a little over 8 weeks away and there are over 18 area races before then!
For most of us, training for a running race means running…

The recently passed holidays are generally filled with religious observances, celebrations, traditions, family, good friends, shopping, and gift-giving and -receiving. With the people we love most, we make memories that can carry us through the difficulties in life. We put deposits in our personal emotional bank so that we can withdraw them when life gets tough. Unfortunately, we also put more deposits of excessive food and drink into our bodies.

These deposits may not be particularly good ones or ones that look particularly good on us ... we need to start making withdrawals by looking at adjusting our choices and lifestyle. We said to ourselves: "Well, it's the holidays -- I'll get back on track afterwards." No flaw in that concept, right? Ha!

The phrase "you are what you eat" begins to flash before your eyes. You are not seeing the proverbial "visions of sugarplums" dancing in your head that you heard about as a child. The more you overeat and drink, the more you feel your body letting you know it is on overload. Too much sugar coupled with less sleep, more stress, and the opportunity to overdo things can be very bad.

Here are some simple and effective Holiday Health Hacks with big benefits!
