ESPN Media & Charleston.com
If you are passionate about college basketball and enjoy watching some of the most storied programs in the sport, than I recommend attending the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic this weekend. The annual men’s college basketball tournament will be played on November 21, 22, and 24 at TD Arena (home of CofC) in downtown Charleston. Eight teams will be vying for the championship.
Among those competing, Florida Atlantic, Nevada, and Drake played in the NCAA tournament last year while VCU and Seton Hall played in the National Invitational Tournament, with Seton Hall winning the NIT Championship. Miami, Oklahoma State, and Seton Hall will be making return trips to Charleston, with the Hurricanes having won the tournament in 2014.
Not only does the classic showcase great college hoops, it profiles the great work done through Shriners Hospital, a leader in providing care for orthopedic conditions, burn injuries, spinal cord injuries and other spine disorders, rehabilitation, sports injuries and craniofacial conditions. They also offer specialized services, including orthotics and prosthetics and motion analysis.
Shriners strive to provide the care and support our patients need to reach their goals and discover their full potential. All care and services are provided regardless of the families’ ability to pay or insurance status. To view our full range of specialties, please visit shrinerschildrens.org
