Whit Nelson was an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved fishing, hunting, boating and four-wheeling. He had such a zest for life and so much energy and loved to share. Somehow his light started to slowly flicker. No one knew his earthly flame would be extinguished by Whit on 3/3/21.
He hid his pain from us all. Mental struggles are a sign we have feelings and emotions and that we are humans! We want to bring awareness to everyone and offer to help
This year we are keeping all of our proceeds local. We have chosen three organizations to donate.
Mental Health HEROES (H=Health, E=Empowerment, R=Recovery, O=Opportunity, E=Education, and S=Support)
This organization was formed in response to the significant challenges faced every day by mental health patients that the Charleston and Dorchester mental health centers could not address due to several budget and administrative constraints. Mental Health HEROES has become an important and valuable resource for the mental centers to secure financial resources to help men women and children experiencing mental illness in our community by allowing the board to respond immediately to the needs of the patients.
Arts in healing at MUSC offers art and music therapy donations cover everything from the salaries of art music therapists to art supplies and musical instruments. Demand for arts and healing services has grown dramatically since it began in 2018. MUSC health Medical Center currently includes 4 hospitals with more than 700 beds.
Many local and regional businesses are sponsors at the event, WHOYOUWHIT Fishing Shirts will be available at the event and donations are also being accepted at the gate and for the raffle which will be held after the party. Checks can be made to: WHOYOUWHIT Benefit or Venmo Elisabeth Nelson @Elisabeth-Nelson-3
With Gratitude from Whit’s Family, Carter, Elisabeth and Claire Nelson
