Founded in Charleston, SC, BarGlance is a livestream nightlife app that connects bars with bar-goers. Real time glances show users what’s going on around town, helping them find the perfect bar scene. 

The second-generation app, which is available on iOS and Android, uses GPS to populate a list of nearby bars. Preinstalled wide-angle cameras show the bars in real time. Food and drink specials, upcoming events, and live music from local bars are also highlighted in the app. 

Co-Founders Justin Moss and Tripp Adams, who first launched the product in 2020, say that their mission has always been to deliver the best nightlife experience possible. Three cities and 35 Partner Bars later, that ethos remains the same. How they go about that, however, is ever-evolving. 

Moss and Adams are currently building the next generation of BarGlance software. BG 3.0, as it's been dubbed, is a complete platform redesign, focused around user content instead of hardware. The duo has also ventured into the crypto space. 

Built using blockchain technology, BarCoin is a token cryptocurrency that allows bar-goers to profit from the content they create. Users earn coins by posting pictures and videos from the bars they visit. The more engagement the content receives, the more coins they earn. Users can then pay bar tabs or send friends a drink using coins. 

It should also be noted that BarCoin eliminates credit card processing fees entirely, making it a win-win for bars and patrons. Taking on legacy payment processors headfirst is obviously a big task, but the two founders say they’re looking forward to the challenge.
