Myrtle Beach, SC – The Charleston RiverDogs earned the series win in a rain-shortened 2-0 victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Sunday night at Pelicans Ballpark.
Dominic Fritton set the tone with three shutout frames. In the process, he allowed just two hits and fanned five. Over his two starts against Myrtle Beach this week, he surrendered just one earned run across nine innings of work.
Yereny Teus followed with two scoreless frames of his own.
The RiverDogs struck first in the top of the fifth when Brody Donay demolished his first homer of the season. The longball marked the second of his professional career.
Charleston added on another in the top of the sixth when Dean Moss drove in Andreimi Antunez with an RBI ground out, capping scoring at 2-0.
After inclement weather forced the game into a weather delay in the bottom of the sixth, the game was eventually called, earning the RiverDogs the win.
With the victory, the RiverDogs moved to 57-44 and 21-15 in the second half, while Myrtle Beach fell to 40-59, and 13-23 in the second half. After a day off on Monday, the RiverDogs begin a six-game series with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers on Tuesday night. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:50 on the RiverDogs Broadcast Network.
