If you're a college basketball fan, and quite frankly who's not, then the ESPN Shriners Children Charleston Classic is a must attend event. Eight Division 1 teams, including several with storied histories including St. John's and LSU will be attending over a long weekend (Nov 16-19th) in hopes of taking home the coveted title.

The bracket-format tournament features 12 games over three days. The teams compete once per day, regardless of results. The two unbeaten teams will face off in a championship game on Sunday, Nov. 19 on ESPN.

Seven of the eight teams in the field are coming off winning records in the 2022-23 season, including Houston, which finished with one of its best seasons in school history (31-3) and advanced to the Sweet 16 as the #1 seed in the 2023 NCAA Men’s Tournament. They open play in Charleston against Towson from the CAA (Coastal Athletic Association), which finished 21-12 a year ago.

Another exciting team to watch will be St. John’s coached by Hall of Famer Rick Pitino who took over the program this past year. They do battle against North Texas who finished 31-7 last season. Quite impressive.

Among the field of eight include Dayton, Utah, North Texas, and Wake Forest out of the ACC. Dayton, coming off a 22-12 season takes on LSU in first round action with the contest set for 4pm on Thursday. Plenty of quality programs bringing impressive records to Charleston. Again if you love college hoops this is a tournament you'll want to attend.
