In 'What In the World?!', Leanne Morgan Recalls Comedic Journey
In Her Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing, Beloved Stand-Up Comic Admits God Had a Plan All Along
Jeff Walker, Entertainment Writer
Much like Dolly Parton put Sevierville, Tennessee on the map, aside from the Bell Witch Hauntings, female comedian Leanne Morgan helped bring much needed notoriety to the small town Adams, Tennessee (population 624). Nearly 25 years after she decided to pursue her God given talent, Morgan has released her first ever book, appropriately titled 'What in the World?! A Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing at Life's Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings'.
How did the daughter of former grocers turned butchers become one of the hottest ladies in comedy? Read her book and you'll find out. Covering 220 pages, Morgan (59 years young) chronicles her life story in great detail, providing a behind the scenes look from a self-described childhood cutie obsessed with stardom and smelling like raw meat, through a series of failed relationships before finding the loves (God, family & comedy) of her life.
In her own comedic way Morgan delivers a self help book for young women, allowing if you follow your heart and let God direct your path, than you can have it all, a successful marriage, kids, grandbabies, health insurance, and a rewarding career.
Sadly, yet amusingly her journey didn't come without some early obstacles. Cutting her own hair, smoking to look cool, dropping out of college (she returned earning a degree), and surrendering to her own naivete were just a few of several setbacks Morgan encountered during her teen years and early 20's. And there's the ABC sitcom deal that didn't pan out. Did she really want to become the next Roseanne, and miss out on her kid's school activities? God knows there may be an epic Netflix special in the future.
In 'What In the World?', we learn the good Lord saved Morgan from becoming a former washed up child star, only to reward her as a respected standup comedian, honing her comedy craft by selling jewelry at house parties. Furthermore we discover the heartache that comes from 'adult mean girl syndrome', the humbling experience of living in a repossessed mobile home, and the onset of perimenopause. Through it all the Morgan would often ask herself 'what in the world', yet she listened to God's voice, I've got you in the palm of My hand. I've got a plan. It's already in motion'.
Morgan offers humorous takes on getting pregnant, cross-fit, paleo diets, big-girl panties, breast augmentation, and the perfect booty. She covers every stage of life from turning 40 and eventually 50, accepting that with aging oftentimes comes vision correction and intermittent menopausal brain fog!
Much like the Garth Brooks song, Morgan knows the grace and wisdom of 'Unanswered Prayers'. She's a one-time 'good bad-girl' using her personal experiences to share a much needed message of hope and inspiration through the means of comedy.
Morgan is original and wholesome and her book is evident of that. While many of her fellow comedians use the stage to rant about politics and social disorder, Morgan finds funny in a young girl's evolution to housewife, motherhood, and mature woman. Her brand of PG comedy has struck a chord with millions of followers including men, and her book will resonate with male and female readers.
'What in the World?! A Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing at Life's Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings' will make your heart laugh, put a smile on your face, and bring the occasional teardrop. For more on Leanne Morgan visit https://www.leannemorgan.com/
