'With You, Charleston' Offers Romance Wrapped Around Suspense
Debut Novel From Charleston Resident Kyara Rice Proves She Has the Writing Skills To Keep Readers Enthralled
Jeff Walker, Entertainment Writer / Book Review
In her debut book, Asheville NC native and current Charleston SC resident Kyara Rice offers up a second chance romance novel seasoned with a bit of spice, entwined in suspense. 'With You, Charleston' offers readers a glimpse into the beginning of what appears to be a productive writing career for Rice.
Somewhat casually dating for five months during their senior years in Charleston SC, Samuel and Josie embark on different paths after graduation. Like his father before him, Samuel enlists in the United States Coast Guard hoping to find adventure, with Josie set on travelling the world, eventually discovering photography as her true calling.
Fast forward 11 years and the two meet up by circumstance at a wedding in the Holy City, he as a member of the wedding party and her as the events photographer. Both single, will they rekindle a relationship that was seemingly only partially lit back in high school.
Not only have the years separated them, Samuel is stationed in Kodiak Alaska, with Josie still calling Charleston her home. Deciding to remain mutual friends, with a month of downtime Josie accepts Samuel's offer to visit him before her busy fall wedding season resumes.
However, are both secretly imagining they'll get back together? Or will Jessica, Samuel's friends with benefits hookup over the past year spark a bit of jealousy in any potential romance? Trouble is brewing in Kodiak and it's not just at the Sunshine Brewery. Kyara Rice weaves an intriguing narrative of lost love wrapped around some nefarious behavior set in Alaska's remote wildlife, adding a hint of seductive foreplay.
Covering 209 pages 'With You, Charleston' explores one of life's most puzzling questions 'Is home a place, or is home a person?'. Rice's degree in psychology is evident throughout the book. Released in July of 2026, the book is available at Barnes & Noble, as well as several online retailers including Amazon.
