JAYKAY says the battery pack uses ten 5Ah 21700 lithium ion cells with a total capacity of 180 Wh, while the company's battery management system is designed to help protect against deep discharge and overcharging.

The housing is built from polycarbonate and is designed for life around the water. JAYKAY lists the system as meeting IP68 protection standards on its product and technology information, with its help materials also addressing water resistance specifications. The important takeaway is that this is not simply an electric gadget being clipped onto a paddleboard. The E-Fin 2.0 was built specifically as a propulsion system for watersports, with the motor, battery, and electronics integrated into a single unit.

Performance will naturally depend on the type of board or watercraft, rider weight, and conditions. JAYKAY says the E-Fin 2.0 can reach speeds of up to approximately 8 km/h under the right circumstances. But speed is not really the main reason the product is appealing. The real advantage is range and flexibility. A little extra push can make a big difference when paddling into a headwind, crossing a current, or extending a trip beyond what you might normally consider comfortable.

That could be especially appealing for paddlers who enjoy exploring coastal waterways but do not always want to turn every outing into a workout.
