'Behind The Badge' Offers Stories of Hope & Courage
New Book From Fox News' Johnny Joey Jones Provides Answers To Those Called To Serve On America's Homefront
Jeff Walker, Entertainment Writer / Book Review
Following up on his New York Times bestselling book 'Unbroken Bonds Of Battle', Fox News political commentator Johnny Joey Jones returns with 'Behind The Badge', eye opening stories from those 'answering the call to serve on America's Homefront'. Covering 240 pages 'Behind The Badge' chronicles the lives of first responders from varying occupations and diverse backgrounds, all with a singular purpose, 'to serve and protect the community they have jurisdiction in'.
A Marine Corps veteran who lost both of his legs above the knee, Jones has dedicated his post military service to improving the lives of fellow veterans, including those in emergency services. In 'Behind The Badge' Jones didn't have to venture far for his collection of stories, drawing on friends and family members, as well as those he served with who have answered the call to protect and defend where they live.
Nine such individuals are profiled in Jones' new book, offering up recollections from their childhood and or tours of duty, alongside personal reasons they decided to become first responders. From firefighters to EMTs and from law enforcement to game wardens, eight men and one woman (paying tribute to her brother) describe in detail the good, the bad, and the ugly they face on a daily basis just doing their jobs.
Unless you have a family member or close friend who's in emergency services, most everyday people have no idea what first responders deal with while on duty. They face situations a majority of us would not want to talk about, let alone witness first hand. Being a police officer isn't just about catching bad guys. Given the recent 'defund the police' movement and the overall disrespect afforded law enforcement, their stories are especially moving.
Firefighters, EMTs, game wardens, and police officers endure triumphs and tragedies on a regular basis. Although they rise to awesome acts of courage, they equally face losses. They see things they can't un-see. Often they have to offer condolences to parents and spouses. While PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) is usually associated with our combat military personnel, first responders deal with PTSD just as well.
When you make a call to them, it's your emergency. However, to first responders it's their job, sometimes leading to sacrifice. And for many who wear the badge, they can't turn it off just because they're not on the clock. It's a 24 hour a day call to duty.
Johnny Joey Jones is a friend and an advocate for the military and first responders. His latest book 'Behind The Badge' takes a deep dive into the personal lives of those dedicated to serve local and state communities they live in. If you want to know more about what they subject themselves to read 'Behind The Badge'. It's an eye-opener. For more or to purchase Jones' book visit https://www.foxnews.com/books/behind-the-badge
