The Charleston radio community lost a friendly on air personality this past Thursday (Dec 5th) with the passing of Mike Edwards. As one third of the popular morning radio show 'Two Girls & a Guy', Edwards spent the better part of three decades plying his trade in Charleston. miketheguy1

When you're a young boy often you imagine growing up to be a police officer, a fireman, in the military, or a cowboy. Except for a few, those are far-fetched illusions when your eight years old. However, before he was in a teenager Edwards knew radio was his calling.

53 years young, Edwards was dedicated to his craft. Over the years he wore many hats, serving as music director, program director, and advertising pitchman. But without a doubt he was most comfortable behind the mike, providing listeners with the latest music intertwined with his God given talent.

It's easy to say, Edwards was meant to be on the air. Regular listeners to 'Two Girls & a Guy' will miss his wry humor, exuberance, and natural charm. Edwards was a voice everyone could relate to over the airwaves, a friend to all his advertising partners, and a strong supporter of all things Charleston.

While Edwards worked briefly in other markets, he honed his craft in greater Charleston.  Given his talent, personality, and professionalism, Edwards was often offered work in bigger markets, but found a home here in the low country of South Carolina.  It goes without saying, his radio shoes will be hard to fill. miketheguymix

Known on the air as 'Mike the Guy', Edwards served as program director for Mix 95.9 and worked alongside Brooke Ryan and Tanya Brown on the beloved morning radio show. If ever there was an on air radio personality who walked the walk, and talked the talk, it was Mike Edwards. God rest his soul, and may he continue to entertain and engage the masses in the great beyond.
