Crepes Palace Taking Crepes To the Next Level

North Charleston Eatery Putting An Upscale Culinary Spin on Everyday Brunch & Dinner Menu

Jeff Walker, Restaurant Review

Crepes Palace is proof you don't have to drive to downtown Charleston to get upscale cuisine. Located in the former home of Hello Deli, Crepes Palace sits beside North Charleston City Hall, offering up unique menu items for breakfast and lunch 8-3pm daily, before switching to their dinner menu 4-8pm. aaaaaaaacrepeslogo

There are a bazillion places that offer up morning and midday fare including those that focus solely on waffles, pancakes, and fast food, however Crepes Palace is a break from the norm. Enjoy a variety of egg-free crepes that embody Caribbean, French, Italian and Southern flavors.

The combined genius of 33 year veteran Chef Vernon and the business acumen of Crepes Palace CEO Paula have joined together to bring this one of kind dining experience to greater Charleston. While most imagine a crepe is a ultra thin French style pancake used to wrap sweet treats, to skilled culinary artisans crepes can come in a plethora of flavors, and complement a bevy of food tastes.

Feast on a savory blend of Shrimp & Grits blanketed in a sun-dried tomato crepe or take an early plunge and order their signature Eggs w/ Smoked Salmon that comes complete with diced tomato, capers, fresh dill surrounded by a spinach crepe. Maybe take a trip to the islands at noon and try their Jerk Chicken, wrapped nicely with dried plantains in a jalapeno crepe to allow for some extra zing. Their Curry Chicken comes with its own bit of tanginess, swirled in mango chutney tofu in a mango crepe. aaaaaaaacrepes2

The dinner menu takes fine cuisine up a notch with a variety of items meant to entice seafood, poultry, and red meat lovers. Their Filet Mignon is select cuts of diced steak in a savory blend of caramelized carrots in house-made hollandaise, tucked inside a flavorful thyme crepe. Feeling adventurous, the slow cooked Jamaican infused Oxtail entree served in a carrot crepe with mixed veggies might tantalize the palate, as would the Grilled Herb Lobster teeming with green beans & chives crepe in a zucchini wrap. Who knew crepes could be so versatile?

There is a theme at Crepes Palace, and it's undeniable. Crepes are king, or if you prefer queen at Crepes Palace. Either way they're royalty at Crepes Palace. It's the little things at Crepes Palace that make the difference. No matter if it's 9am or 7pm your meal comes served on real dishes with real silverware. And each entree is esthetically and colorfully adorned on the plate, allowing for a feast for the eyes before the food delights the palate. aaaaaaaacrepes1

Several gluten free and vegan friendly menu items, as well as select dessert options including an interesting Sex in a Pan, aka layers of chocolate and vanilla over lady finger covered in a pecan crust and rich cream. If you're a true Charlestonian I recommend their She Crab Soup. It's unlike any other in the low country and eats like a robust meal. Overall menu pricing ranges between $10 - $30. Come in Thursday evening for free mimosas 4-6pm.

While the dining hall itself may not be five star, Paula who is a certified event planner has provided a soothing environment. Crepes Palace has a separate room that can accommodate a party of 10 or 12 for wedding rehearsal or small company gathering complete with a flat screen for video presentations. aaaaaaaacrepe5

The interior may have gotten a makeover, and the menu may have enjoyed a culinary upgrade, but one thing remains a constant, and that is the very personable server KC, who spent the better part of two decades waiting on diners at Hello Deli, and now carries that same bright smile and customer service attitude to Crepes Palace.

If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, maybe somewhere to enjoy breakfast or late lunch with a client, or a menu that's not your everyday run of the mill, than Crepes Palace is a welcome change of pace. Overall menu pricing ranges between $10 - $30. Come in Thursday evening for free mimosas 4-6pm. Find them at 2409 Mall Drive, North Charleston. Savor the possibilities at https://crepespalace.com/
