Dining Out? Can't Go Wrong With 'Two Wrights'
Dinner Only Restaurant Located Inside Double Tree by Hilton Charleston Airport In Northwoods

Outside downtown Charleston and a few pocketed areas of the lowcountry you don't think of the north area as having a plethora of upscale dining options. There are a few exceptional burger joints and smaller mom and pops offering up signature comfort food.
However by in large North Charleston is littered with fast food and big name restaurant chains. And when it comes to hotels, North Charleston definitely has the majority, with several providing hot breakfasts, and a select few hosting the occasional after hours cocktail socials.
Tucked inside the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Charleston Airport at 7401 Northwoods Blvd. you'll discover a hidden dining gem, offering up dinner seven nights a week. As their menu indicates Two Wrights Bar & Kitchen serves renowned flavors that reflect 'a taste of Charleston'.
While business types and weekend travelers may be familiar with Two Wrights, a majority of locals may not be. To them I say 'don't judge a restaurant by its cover'. Think of Two Wrights as upscale tavern food in a casual yet unique setting. Rightfully of course, you expect a good measure a quality because they fall under the Hilton Hotel brand.
Perusing their overall menu runs the gamut from everyday comfort foods (including handhelds) to Charleston favorites. Light eaters could easily fill up on their slightly spicy 'Fire Cracker Shrimp' complete with a zesty sweet chili sauce or their traditional 'Old Charleston' Shrimp & Grits' properly laced with andouille sausage and southern style grits, as well as Buttermilk Fried Green Tomatoes.
Meat lovers may prefer the BBQ Pork Ribs off the appetizer menu. Just three of a half dozen starters including Fried Pickles that are equally satisfying and or a great way to kick start a more robust meal. Easily shareable!
Handhelds include the most popular sandwiches, as well as the current rage. The half pound dual patty Smashburger smothered under American cheese, caramelized onions, and their special sauce will please the all beef palate. Seafood lovers may opt for the Mahi Mahi BLT, an ample serving of mahi (grilled, blackened, or fried) under a blanket of bacon, lettuce, and tomato with a slather or remoulade on a fresh brioche bun. Served with choice of side. Both incredibly delicious!
The entree list while not extensive covers a decent array of dishes that might appeal to broad variety of appetites. Love Italian and poultry, I recommend the Chicken Parmesan. Craving a meat & potatoes dinner than order up the Ribeye, a 12oz quality hand cut steak complete with garlic mashed and veggies. Seafood lovers will be tempted by the Bourbon Glazed Grilled Salmon. If you choose to split an entree the Grilled Mushroom or Pepperoni Flatbreads go great with a glass of wine or a cold brewski.
Vegans have several options including a refreshing and oversized Spinach Strawberry Salad, as well as a Vegetable Alfredo loaded with broccoli, tomatoes, and mushrooms in a bed of penne pasta. A hearty serving of New York Cheesecake or a cool slice of Key Lime Pie is a nice way to end your meal. Just two of five everyday desserts including their signature DoubleTree Cookie Sundae.
The beauty of Two Wrights is that even though it's situated in a well adorned atrium, it's secluded enough to provide a bit of privacy. And with the Doubletree being positioned behind its sister hotel the Homewood Suites, dinner guests don't see a single remnant of Ashley Phosphate Road or Northwoods Blvd. Dining bliss!
If the weather permits you can dine in the open-air patio, where DoubleTree host movie nights on the weekends. Under a moonlit night and with the lights dimmed it allows for a more romantic feel whether dining inside or alfresco.
If you want a taste of the Holy City with a hint of tavern food, without venturing into downtown Charleston than consider Two Wrights Bar & Kitchen inside the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Charleston Airport. You won't have to pay to park and no doubt you'll save a few dollars by not paying for extras ala carte. Two Wrights is open 5-10pm daily for dinner.
Although DoubleTree doesn't provide the typical make your own waffle breakfast, the bar area does transform into a full-scale Starbucks at 6am, providing a wide array of caffeinated beverages, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries. Many people who work in the surrounding area are aware they can enjoy the satellite Starbucks until 2pm daily, before the bar reverts back into an afternoon lounge serving up beer, wine, and hand-crafted cocktails for guests and locals alike until 11pm.
