Good Food, Great Drink, Better Atmosphere, Two Brothers Open  Authentic Style Irish Pub In Heart of Downtown Summerville.

Little did Seamus Shevlino realize when he took his first job in high school back at the former 'Just Chill' in Mount Pleasant, that it would be the beginning of a two decade run in the food & beverage industry. Aside from a short stint at Publix east of the Cooper, all Seamus has ever known is working in restaurants and bars.

Fast forward 20 years, with hospitality in his blood, Seamus along with his blood brother Sean's support recently threw open the doors to Seamus' Irish Pub at 139 Central Ave, bettter known as short Central in the heart of downtown Summerville SC. Just in case you're wondering Seamus 'pronounced SHAY-mus' and Sean are of Irish descent. Sin é go hiontach! aka 'that's awesome'. 

A quick history lesson. Although they are synonymous with taverns, bars, and alehouses, the title 'pubs' go back some 500 years and emerged from the larger term 'public houses' in English society. However, not all watering holes are the same. While bars are primarily loud and built for vibrant nightlife, a pub by definition focuses on an established community atmosphere.

That's precisely what the brothers have created at Seamus' Irish Pub. With Guiness Stout always on tap alongside another seven brews, as well as authentic whiskey behind the bar, Seamus' can best be described as a genuine Irish pub. Its validity derives from three main factors, their quaint yet rustic decor coupled with their neighborhood camaraderie and lively conversation.

Seamus' Irish Pub is a place you come to unwind after work, meet new friends, share spoken word, all the while sipping great Irish whiskey, savoring a preferred cocktail, or throwing back a few pints of your favorite cold brewski. Seamus and Sean agree, while their food is good, the pub itself with its array of potent potables is the marquee attraction.

In layman's terms the edibles are simply meant to complement the awesome drinks. Void of any main entrees, Seamus' roughly 20 menu items consist of appetizers and handhelds, with a third of the list reflecting Irish heritage.

Despite not being served on rye bread the Killarney resembles a classic Reuben sandwich, nicely layered with corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. The Irish Toastie, (toasted ham, cheddar, onions, & tomato), the County Cork Philly (basically an Irish cheesesteak), and the zesty Turkey Pesto Panini are three equally hardy sandwiches designed to go well with any adult beverage.

If you're scrolling the light bites and starters section than you might consider the Loaded Fries, a variation of the traditional Shepherd's Pie with a pile of seasoned fries blanketed under beef, gravy, and cheddar cheese. Yummy for the tummy whether you eat with a fork or your fingers. Their Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls are self-explanatory, wrapped ideally in a crispy eggroll.

Craving something quick and easy, there's always their Pimento Beer Cheese Bites, six or an even dozen plump wings, or honey butter infused pop in your mouth Cornbread Hushpuppies laced with a whiskey glaze. A house or Caesar salad might satisfy vegans in your party.

Again, the food acts as supporting characters, meant to enhance the two co-stars, which are the drinks and the overall ambiance. As should be, there's a couple of dart boards in the rear of the pub. They have a few TVs behind the bar that will keep you up on the latest sports. On the weekends you might find a solo guitarist offering up appropriate listening music.

The interior features a welcoming environment including benches, high-top tables, booths, and a long bar, all cast in warm well-lived wood tones. Seamus actually visited Ireland just to soak up the feel of an authentic Irish pub. His namesake pub accommodates 75 nicely, with additional tables on a secluded back alley patio.

Coming full circle, Seamus' Irish Pub is a community gathering place. Seamus and Sean have created an unpretentious watering hole where you can relish in lively conversation and friendly banter. Drop in to enjoy traditional Irish whiskey, a Guiness, and any other alcoholic beverage you might fancy. Maybe chow down on some good food.

Come on in 'grab a snug', have 'some craic' and salute 'sláinte' to your fellow patrons at Seamus' Irish Pub. Open noon to 12AM on Tuesday and Wednesday, noon to 2AM Thursday through Saturday, and 1PM to 11PM on Sunday. They are closed on Mondays. Even countrymen need a day off!

Parting shots (pun intended). 139 Central Ave in Summerville is destined to be an Irish pub, because long before Seamus' opened in mid July of 2026, the address was home for years to O'Lacy's Pub. Seamus' has just taken the original Irish pub scene up a few notches. Native Irishmen who reside in greater Summerville have already commented, Seamus' provides them a sense of home. No greater honor!
